Aloha folks!
Today I’m back as promised with a review of an exciting new rum out of Barbados called The Real McCoy. This rum is distributed by some rum-loving folks in Connecticut, but it’s made on the island of Barbados. Read the review here and find out this rum’s connection with the famous expression.

At long last, I’m back with more rum reviews, and today I bring you a review of a new coconut rum out of Hawaii from our friends at Koloa. If you read the Coconut Rum Challenge, you know that I have subjected myself to tasting more coconut rums than most, so it is with great pleasure that I report this one is actually really good. New Article: Aging Rum at Home
Aloha kakou!
Today I finally complete my rum aging project by sharing it with you.
Since Christmas 2012, I have been aging J Wray & Nephew White Overproof rum in two liter barrels in an attempt to create an aged overproof rum on a micro-scale. Long story short, it worked out quite well. Want to know how I did it? Read the article here!

New Rum Review: El Dorado 15
Aloha kakou,
Happy Aloha Friday! Today I’m jump-starting the weekend with a review of another Demerara rum: the El Dorado 15-Year. Having already reviewed the 12 and 21 year expressions, this rounds out my notes on DDL’s aged line (the easy-to-get ones, anyway). I also tasted the three side-by-side to see how they compared to one another. Read the review here and then share your thoughts on your favorite.
Cheers,
Josh
New Rum Review: Mount Gay 1703
Aloha kakou,
Today I’m back with a review of another beautiful Bajan: Mount Gay 1703. When I opened this rum, I was expecting something along the lines of Mount Gay XO, but it is so much more than that. Read the review here and I bet you’ll be off to buy a bottle of your own.
Cheers,
Josh

Aloha!
Today I present to you my review of Appleton 50-Year Independence reserve, the $5,000/bottle rum created to mark Jamaica’s first fifty years of independence from the United Kingdom. With only 800 bottles available worldwide (70 of them in the USA) chances are you won’t be seeing this one at the local liquor store or neighborhood bar. I do my best to describe the taste for you here.
Mahalo for stopping by,
Josh
Aloha, kakou!
Last week I was in Phoenix for a conference, and I had the chance to visit The Breadfruit, a great Jamaican restaurant and rum bar in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Yes, that’s right: Phoenix! This place has everything: great drinks, food–even cigars. Read on for the full experience.
Mahalo for visiting,
Josh
