March 8, 2012

Aloha folks!

When life hands you pineapples, make big fancy tiki drinks. That’s a saying, right? Well, it should be. Last night I realized I had one too many pineapples in the kitchen, so I decided to put it to good use and tell you about one of my favorite tiki drinks: the Boo Loo in a Pineapple. If you want to impress your friends with an eminently drinkable yet powerfully  boozy concoction served in a memorable fashion, this is the one for you. Read the recipe here!

New Cocktail Post: Rum Old Fashioned

March 6, 2012

Aloha folks!

It’s time for another cocktail post, and this time it’s back to basics with a classic: the Rum Old Fashioned. I drink most of my Old Fashioned cocktails with bourbon, but sometimes rum is called for, and let’s face it–I’ve got the stuff by the gallon! There are a lot of Old Fashioned recipes out there that have some twisted ideas of what should go into this venerable libation, and in this post, I try and set you on the straight and narrow. Read the recipe here and you’ll be on your way to glory in no time.

New Rum Review: Plantation Extra Old / 20th Anniversary Barbados Rum

January 3, 2012

Aloha folks!

I’m starting the new year off right with a review of a rum I’ve been enjoying for a while now: Plantation Extra Old. Contrary to a popular misconception, this is actually not a 20 year-old rum, but a 12-year old. No matter, it’s smooth beyond its years by far. Read the full review here; I bet you’ll want a bottle after you do.

Josh
