New Rum Review: Denizen Merchant’s Reserve
Aloha!
With the passing of Labor day here in the states, Summer is coming to a close. For some that means a transition from rum to other spirits, but not so here! You know as well as I do that rum can (should?) be enjoyed year-round, so let’s take a look at an exciting Caribbean aged rum from Holland: Denizen Merchant’s Reserve. Read the review here.

New Rum Review: Barceló 30 Aniversario
Aloha!
Today I’m back with another review of a fantastic rum out of the Dominican Republic. From the house of Barceló comes their rarest expression: the 30th Aniversario. This rum was released in 2013 to mark the company’s 30th year in business, and it’s a beauty. Read the review here.

New Rum Review: The Real McCoy 12-Year
Aloha, folks!
Today I’m back with another review of a quality aged rum from the birthplace of rum: Barbados. This time it’s the Real McCoy 12-Year. If you read my reviews of the 3-year white and 5-year expressions, then you know I’m a fan of this line, so it should come as no surprise that I really loved the 12-year. Check out my review here and let me know what you think.
Cheers,
Josh
New Rum Review: Siesta Key Spiced
Aloha folks,
Summer always has a way of slowing my reviews down, but with a few projects out of the way, I’m back to business. One of the bottles I’ve been meaning to get to is a special spiced rum out of Sarasota, Florida called Siesta Key. Made by Drum Circle Distilling, this is not your typical vanilla spiced rum bomb–it’s a quality young rum with a really great mix of spices and a touch of honey. The only problem is its limited distribution, but I imagine that will change before too long. Read the review here.
Cheers,
Josh
New Rum Review: The Real McCoy 3-Year
Aloha folks!
After a bit of time back in Hawaii, I return to you rested and rejuvenated, so let’s get back to the rum reviews! Today we further explore The Real McCoy rum line with a look at their 3-Year white rum. Distilled on Barbados by Richard Seale, this is a fine expression of the distiller’s art. Read the review here.

New Rum Review: Facundo Exquisito
Greetings!
Today I’m back with another luxury rum review for you. This time it’s the Exquisito expression in Bacardi’s new line of Facundo rums. I wasn’t too impressed with the Eximo, but perhaps this one would be better? It better be to justify the $100 price tag on this 40% spirit. Check out the review here.
Cheers,
Josh
New Rum Review: Diplomatico Ambassador
Aloha!
Today I’m back with another review of a luxury rum: Diplomatico Ambassador. This rum comes in box fit for a king, but what about the liquid inside? With packaging like this and an impossibly steep price tag, it’s got to be amazing, right? Not so fast. There’s more (or less) to this beautiful presentation than one might imagine. Read the review here.

New Rum Review: Facundo Eximo
Aloha kakou,
Today we return with a review of another highly anticipated rum: Facundo Eximo. This is the 10-year expression within Bacardi’s new line of super premium rums. The Facundo line is not yet available on the West Coast, but after you read my review, you may not be terribly concerned about that. Read the review here.
Mahalo as always for visiting,
Josh
New Rum Review: Owney’s Original
Aloha!
I met a lot of really great people at this year’s Miami Rum Festival, one of whom was Bridget Firtle. Bridget was there promoting a product she makes in Brooklyn called Owney’s Original Rum. Now, if you’re like me, you might be a bit trepidatious about trying a domestic white rum, but you needn’t worry in this case–it’s actually quite delicious. Read the review here.

New Rum Review: Tanduay 1854
Aloha folks,
Today I return with a review of a rum you won’t find for sale here in the U.S.–it’s Tanduay 1854. This 15-Year rum from the Philippines is a duty-free staple and a product that nearly delivers on the promise of a luxurious sipping rum from the P.I. Take a look here and see what I mean.
Cheers,
Josh
